A tall, stylish half-elf with wind-swept blond hair and a neatly trimmed goatee. Buckles run the length of his tall, black boots and jingle like spurs when he walks. He wears bright colors and a cap with a large plume of feathers.

Born to a low-ranking noble family in Aundair with ties both to the University of Wynarn, and House Lyrandar, Adogen grew up in the company of professors, aristocrats, deckhands, and grizzled captains of both sea and sky.

As a child, he would weasel his way into the classrooms, where he would observe in wide-eyed wonder all of the mystical magicks performed therein. When he wasn’t at the university, he followed his father aboard the ships where he would assist with small tasks, listen to tales told by old captains, and sneak drinks with the crew.

From a young age, Adogen did everything with a flourish. Even his handwriting was ostentatious. He delighted in the finer things, and never missed a social event. As a young man, he began to tinker with magical contraptions. Lacking the patience and concentration required for proper conjurations, he found it far more effective to harness the elemental energies into machinations that he could tinker with at his leisure.

As he grew to adulthood, his father became displeased with his shirking of shipward responsibilities and general disdain for authority. His father’s shame and disappointment became more pronounced the older Adogen became. He ultimately used his influence to have Adogen assigned to work as a deckhand aboard a cutter named Lady Luck in the Lhazaar Principalities.

As luck would have it, the ship was overrun and captured. Adogen and his crew mates were taken captive and moved to the brig of the pirate’s ship. Having never been so angry and embarrassed, Adogen fumed in captivity. He paced and grumbled to himself for three days straight, when a buzzing began to ring in his ears. Louder and louder it crescendo-ed. Something unnatural was at work. Without warning, the sky darkened and a furious storm came charging like a ram and engulfed both ships. The winds whipped the seas to a frenzied froth. Waves thrust in opposite directions collided, tossing the ships. Timbers groaned under the strain. Between flashes of lightning, the crew burst forth and took the pirate’s ship, sinking the Lady Luck in the process.

It wasn’t until they returned home, battered but victorious, that Adogen learned what had happened. It was one of the crew, a dragonmarked guild member, who had summoned the storm. The entire mission had been arranged to both punish and teach Adogen. The hope was that he would return with having gained both interest and humility. But Adogen was not one to be manipulated, and preferred to do the manipulating. But now he was no longer a starry-eyed boy looking through a spyglass and dreaming of becoming a celebrity. He had been chewed, swallowed, and spit back out. And he wasn’t happy about it and was more rebellious than ever.

Still, he enjoyed the finer things and the first thing he did was finish a bottle of port before collapsing on a goose-down mattress. But he was forever changed in that he had no intention of being a Lyrandar errand boy. He craved the freedom and openness he had experienced on his return journey aboard the pirate ship. He wanted to travel distant lands, meet strange folk and eat strange foods. He has designs to commission his own ship. One with comfortable beds, lavish banquet hall, and deadly guns. And she has to be fast.

Until then, he maintains a love-hate relationship with the guild, reluctantly following orders and walking a thin line between obedience and insubordination. He was recently ordered to escort and provide transport for a band of adventurers, whom he had taken a liking to. He is hopeful that, with them, he will be able to commandeer either a ship, or the funds to acquire one.
